Nuno Álvares Miranda

A Cape Verdean poet, Nuno Álvares Miranda was born on 23 October 1924, in Mindelo, S. Vicente, in Cape Verde.

He can be seen in the Cape Verdean literary panorama through the magazine Certeza (1944) - an important social and ideological literary project, which this author would later renege on, going on to a very own poetry, written and felt far from Cape Verde (in Lisbon).

In his poetry we can see the curious existence of two environmental forms, two scenarios, two media, separated from each other by various details (personal and general), linked only by the hand of a poet who, even being in a large city, felt and thought like an insulated, an island. Thus, as a Cape Verdean who he is and never managed to stop being, the poet feels the physical climate of the island and feels it (in all its surroundings: climate, sea, isolation) in a completely opposite scenario: Lisbon.
