Sara Alexandra Lima Tavares (Sara Tavares)

Sara won the final of the 1st edition (1993/1994) of the portuguese tv channel SIC "Chuva de Estrelas" contest where she performed a Whitney Houston theme.

She was invited by Rosa Lobato de Faria to participate in the 1994 RTP Song Festival with the song "Chamar a Música". The song received the highest score from all the jurors, thus winning a place in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, where it reached 8th place.

In 1996 she edited her first album with the collaboration of the choir Shout, as well as recording the song "Longe do Mundo" (an adaptation of "God Help The Outcasts," by Heidi Mollenhauer), for Disney's film, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, which would merit an honourable mention from Disney as the best version of the song, not counting the English one.

At Expo'98, Sara Tavares took part in the Gershwin tribute show, alongside the Rias Big Band Berlin.

In the meantime, she collaborated in the great success of the band Ala dos Namorados, "Solta-se o Beijo".

In 1999 she edited the album "Mi Ma Bô", a more mature album with more connection to its roots.

The album "Balancê", published by World Connection, in November 2005, was considered one of the best albums of the year by the critics, reaching the golden record.

With the song "Bom Feeling", from the album "Balancê", Sara Tavares became the "face" of Millenium BCP. Through the campaign, in an investment of 3 million euros, 40 thousand CDs of the singer were distributed to the bank's clients.

In 2008 the DVD "Alive in Lisboa" is released. In 2009 it returns to the originals with the album "Xinti".
