Francisco Manso was born in Lisbon on November 28, 1949. Director with a long and productive career that began in the 70's, Francisco Manso has a vast curriculum that includes several internationally awarded productions. In addition to short and feature films made for cinema and television in the area of fiction, with natural emphasis on O Testamento do Sr. Napumoceno (1997), he is, above all, an unavoidable figure in the panorama of Portuguese documentary cinema. In this field, his work is marked by a documentary of a social, anthropological or ethnographic nature, on the one hand, and also by productions dedicated to remarkable episodes of recent history in Portugal and to figures, movements and currents of relevance in Lusophone culture, on the other. The documentary Memórias de um rio - Avieiros, os nómadas do Tejo (2004), was awarded the Special Prize for Lusophony at the 10th Environmental Film and Video Festival - Cine Eco 2004.
