Luis Loff de Vasconcelos

Luis Loff de Vasconcelos was a writer and journalist. He was born on January 5, 1861 on the island of Maio.

Son of a Portuguese and a Cape Verdean, Loff de Vasconcelos spent much of his adolescence on the island of Santiago, where he was the mayor of Praia, having, however, chosen the island of Brava as "adoptive homeland" went later to São Vicente, the island where he died, where he published much of his writings.

"Ecos d'aldeia", published in 1897 in São Vicente, represented the debut of Loff de Vasconcelos in writing, followed by a regular presence in the world of literature until shortly before his death.

Among the books published are "O Extermínio de Cabo Verde", "Pavorosas Revelações", "Como nós colonizamos", "O advogado de um Comerciante", "Questões sociais - Autoridade na família" and "Perdição da Pátria", among others.

In addition to journalism and writing, areas in which he was consecrated, Luís Loff de Vasconcelos also devoted himself to Law, Meteorology, Commerce and Education, having been a professor of French and commercial accounting.

He died in São Vicente on 19 March 1932.
