Luís Filipe Cardeal de Lima (Luís Lima)

Little known among the Cape Verdean musical public, Luís Lima is considered one of the outstanding composers, whose career began in the first half of the 70's, before the national independence, which has been affirmed and highlighted in the national scene with its own line of intervention, privileging the traditional genres of warm and coladeira and themes linked to lyricism and the land. Luís Filipe Cardeal de Lima, who has lived in São Vicente for many years, more precisely in Chã de Fanek, in Ribeirinha, was born on July 5, 1952, in the town of Bcente (Vicente), in the municipality of Paul, Santo Antão Island.

He made partnerships with musicians such as Ramiro Mendes, Paulino Vieira, Toy Vieira and Vaiss put Luís Lima among the main authors of Cape Verdean lyrics, with themes recorded by several of their main performers (Bana, Nancy Vieira, Ildo Lobo, Vaiss, Maria Alice, Fantcha, Celina Pereira).

In Portugal, Luís Lima published poems in the IV Anthology of contemporary poetry, organized and edited by Luís Filipe Soares.
