Lura, born on July 31, 1975 in Lisbon, is a singer of Cape Verdean descent.
Her involvement in the artistic milieu began early on with participation in theatre and choral projects. Her career as a singer began in 1996, at the age of 21, when she recorded her first album, whose title song, Nha Vida, was an immediate success and which earned her an invitation to participate in the Red Hot + Lisbon recording project, which brought together great names in Lusophone music. In 1998, she accompanied Cesária Évora, the biggest name in Cape Verdean music, in two important projects: she opened her shows at Expo'98 and participated, in Paris, in the series of concerts of the project 'Cesária & friends'.
Having learned Cape Verdean Creole from her schoolmates and her family, Lura was soon able to speak fluently and also compose in this symbol language of Cape Verde, which today the singer considers as her mother tongue.
She participated in one of the qualifiers of the 2001 RTP da Canção Festival, together with Paulo Abreu Lima, with the theme "Da Terra À Lua".
In 2002 she released her second album, In Love. In November 2003 she was one of the three singers chosen for the Women of Cape Verde project, a series of concerts held in the United Kingdom, which earned her invitations and the release of her albums in several European countries.

In 2002 she released her second album, In Love. In November 2003 she was one of the three singers chosen for the Women of Cape Verde project, a series of concerts held in the United Kingdom, which earned her invitations and the release of her albums in several European countries.
She had a small participation in the third series of Morangos com Açúcar, giving life to Ana Maria, a pregnant woman who lives in the house of Fred (Paulo Rocha).
In 2006 she releases the album M'bem di fora, very acclaimed in its presentation on November 7 of the same year at the Teatro Tivoli, in Lisbon. A more sober work where the artist reveals a greater musical maturity, succeeding in imprinting her personal stamp on the themes of various composers, including the name of Toy Vieira, artistic director of the project and composer of some of his songs. According to the singer, it is a tribute to the migrants who come from the interior in search of opportunities in large urban centers. The album's tour included concerts in Turkey, Germany, France, Brazil, Spain, Australia and Italy and appears in the documentary "Fados" by Carlos Saura.
In 2009 he releases the album Eclipse with themes such as "Libramor", "Um Dia", "Tabanka" and "Canta Um Tango".
In 2010 "Best Of" is released, which includes the unpublished "Moda Bô" (in a duet with Cesária Évora) and "Amor É So Sabe" and the most popular themes such as "Na Ri Na", "Ponciana", "Um Dia", "Vazulina", "Quebrod Nem Djosa" or "Nha Vida". The DVD with the same name includes the concert recorded at the Virginia Theatre in Torres Novas, Portugal, with the participation of the batucadeiras Voz de África.
