Daniel António Pereira, born in Cape Verde in 1951, in the city of Mindelo and raised in the city of Praia, since his first year of age, where he did practically all his schooling (primary and secondary), graduated in History from the Universidade Clássica de Lisboa, having attended its Faculdade de letras, between 1976 and 1981.

In 1981 he returned to Cape Verde, where he started teaching, both at the Domingos Ramos High School and at the Primary School of Praia, as well as at the Escola de Formação de Professores do Ensino Secundário, now ISE, where, in 1984, the History Course was founded, having introduced and taught, for the first time in the country, the subject of "Introduction to the History of Cape Verde".

In 1985, he entered the diplomatic career, having performed, among others, the highest functions (Director of the Studies Office - 1987, Cultural Advisor to the President of the Republic, - 1989, Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister - 2001)... He was Ambassador of Cape Verde in Brazil.

Best known in the Cape Verdean national cultural panorama, in his capacity as historian, he is the author, among other works, of: "Studies of the History of Cape Verde", "Chronological Milestones of the Old City", "The situation of the island of Santiago in the 1st quarter of the 18th century and "A look at Cape Verde - History for Youth".
