Antonio Aurélio Gonçalves, known as Nhô Roque (Mindelo, São Vicente, September 25, 1901 - idem, September 30, 1984) was a writer, critic, historian and Cape Verdean teacher. He was born in the city of Mindelo, São Vicente, on September 25, 1901, and died on September 30, 1984, victim of a hit-and-run.

He was the son of Roque da Silva Gonçalves.

He was absent from São Vicente for twenty-two years: he went to Lisbon in 1917 to continue his high school studies after the seminary on the island of São Nicolau and take a higher education course. He enrolled in medicine, which he attended for two years. He then studied Fine Arts and finally History and Philosophy. He returned to his homeland only at the beginning of 1939.

Active and critical in the most diverse areas - book prefaces, literature seminars in the Secondary School Teacher Training Course, articles in magazines such as Ponto & Vírgula.

He was a professor of History and Philosophy at Mindelo High School, Gil Eanes High School and Technical School.
