Serra da Malagueta

The Park has an area of 774 ha and is located at the confluence of three municipalities: Santa Catarina (302 ha), São Miguel (436 ha) and Tarrafal (36 ha).

The Park covers the entire area of the State Forestry Perimeter, including the escarpments that naturally limit it, but also the mountainous areas such as the Pedra Comprida escarpments, on the edge of Mafafa, located in Locotano, Curral de d'Asno, including Ribeira Cuba, located in the area of Pia, Monte Sanguela, Monte Gémeo, from the escarpments of Quebrada to Mato Fundura, the escarpments of the south of Maria Curva and Tabuleiro, including a small part of Cantada Ribeira, going up to Chão de Espinho (the limit of the forest perimeter) where Chão Grande begins, continuing to follow the escarpments of Ponta Preta, Mato Curral, Mato Galego, Timtim, Costa Limon and Lacha Branca.

They hold the largest number 26 (27%) of superior plant species endemic to the island of Santiago.
