Carlos Alberto Sousa Mendes (Princezito)

Carlos Alberto Sousa Mendes of artistic name Princezito, was born in Cape Verde four years before independence, in the island of Santiago, Tarrafal village - Monte Iria, area where the legendary singer of Finason - Bibinha Kabral - lived the last years of life, lady whose Princezito coveted the art of singing.

He studied in the school of the village where she was born, and from an early age he sparked the admiration of his teachers and classmates for the originality in writing and reciting his own poems, an art he had learned at home from his older brothers.
During the eight years he lived in Cuba, Princezito absorbed the great cultural diversity of that country, from Cuban Afro rhythms and songs to popular and contemporary music.

He was the preceptor of the "AYAN" project, a record that showed the new trend of the Batuku style and projected the so-called Panther generation. A production with the participation of Tcheka, Vadu, Djingo and Princezito himself, who brought to earth a replica of "Lua", the composition of his authorship that has been marking the meaning and soul of the many who listen to it. Recorded by Mayra (CD) and Lura (DVD).
