António Correia e Silva. Degree in Sociology from the New University of Lisbon, Master in African Studies from the Instituto Superior das Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa (ISCTE) and PhD from the Universidade Nova.

Co-author of the three volumes of the General History of Cape Verde and author of the following books: Histórias de um Sahel insular (Spleen, 1995), Nos Tempos do Porto Grande do Mindelo (Centro Cultural Português, 2000), Cabo Verde: Combates Pela História (Spleen, 2004), Dilemas de Poder na História de Cabo Verde, besides numerous articles in his area of expertise, he was President of the Installation Commission of the University of Cape Verde (2204-2006, Founding Rector of the same University (2006-2010), Vice-President of the Association of Portuguese Language Universities (2009-2011), President of the National Commission for UNESCO and Minister for Higher Education, Science and Innovation (2011-2016). He is currently a lecturer at the University of Cape Verde and a visiting researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS) of the University of Lisbon.
