Onésimo Silveira (Mindelo, 1935) is a politician and writer from Cape Verde. He was one of the most prominent of Cape Verde's literary elite. He studied in Uppsala, Sweden during the 1960s, after spending a period in China. He was crucial to the beginning of the work of solidarity with the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC).
