Francisco Nunes de Pina (Frank Mimita)

Francisco Nunes de Pina was born in Achada de Santo António, Praia, on August 4th, 1943.

In December 1966 he emigrated to Portugal where he stayed for some time, performing in Cape Verdean nights, before settling down in Rotterdam, Holland.

An excellent cavaquinho performer, having accompanied artists such as Luís Rendall (with whom he was part of a group in Lisbon, with Calú, Taninho and Bana) on recordings, it was, however, the voice that eventually gave Frank glory.

A talented composer who covers various genres of the Cape Verdean musical space, his satirical music - the coladera - generally focuses on subjects related to everyday scenes, using figures mainly from his neighbourhood, Achada de Santo António, around which he develops his entire plot.

Discography: Frank Mimita canta Cabo Verde, Pilon elétrico, Hora já tchegá, Forti trabadja pa alguém, Ja nô tem traboi na nôs terra, Tudo cúsa é Djudja, Nha Guran di mundo.
