He started playing the guitar next to his father, on Boa Vista Island, Cape Verde.

He came to Portugal to study at the Santarém School of Agricultural Regents, where he graduated as an Agricultural Technical Engineer.

He was one of the singers of the group Os Charruas. Seven years later, he joined the group Quinteto Académico+2, alongside Mike Sergeant.

Then he starts playing with the Four Kings. In 1979, he recorded the single "Feel Good" on Bana's label, which is played on the program Rock Em Stock.

He forms Bandássanhá. The first album is "Branco, Tinto e Jeropiga" and is followed by "Estou basta". It also records a maxi-single with the tracks "(Com Elas) Crioula de S. Bento", "(Aqui É) Terra de Fé" and "Pois É... The album "Lua Vagabunda" is published in 1986. The album, with the collaboration of names like Rui Veloso and Zé Carrapa, includes themes like "Banhada" and "Nha Mudjé".

In the late 1980s, the musician opened a space called Clave de To, frequented by several artists such as the Portuguese musician Rui Veloso. Until then, he had recorded only in Portuguese by Valentim de Carvalho. He starts recording in Cape Verdean Creole. In 1991 the album "Sodadi Funaná" is released.

In 1994, Valentim de Carvalho released an anthology with "As Melhores de Dany Silva" (The Best of Dany Silva) with 16 songs, three of which were new.

In 1996 he participates in the compilation "Pensa Nisto!.... Todos Diferentes Todos Iguais" where he records "Sodade" with Rui Veloso. He also participates in the show "Caminho Longe" of the project Sons da Lusofonia.

Collaborates in the soundtrack of the soap opera "Filha do Mar" together with Mafalda Veiga and Dina.

Records a version of "Foi Por Ela" by Fausto.

In 2004 she participates in the compilation of the tribute to Amália Rodrigues "A Tribute To Amália" with the theme "Morrinha".

He recorded about six albums in Creole, but open to Portuguese musicians, with duets with Sérgio Godinho and Carlos do Carmo. One of his next projects is an album with re-recordings of his songs in duet with other artists.

He participates in the project "Triângulo do Atlântico" with Pepe Ordás and Vitorino Salomé who release the album "Amor em Adjectivo" in 2012.
